We are looking for Senior Data Engineer (Kafka) who will join an AI-driven PharmaTech British company committed to discovering, designing and developing better medicines. It developed the first-ever functional precision oncology platform to successfully guide treatment selection and improve patient outcomes.

As a Kafka Engineer, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work with others to define and implement event streaming components.
  • Investigate, evaluate, and implement Kafka applications and its specifications.
  • Work within an integrated engineering team to build message configuration and flows.
  • Communicate the benefits and progress of the process design.
  • Some aspects of the role are:
  • Gain a clear understanding of our platform processes and how streaming can improve efficiency.
  • Building robust event streaming processes from requirement specifications.
  • Monitor and optimize Kafka clusters.
  • Working with other teams and to ensure that their needs are met, and aspects of the system are communicated effectively.
  • Executing and documenting unit testing and present findings.

You might be the perfect match if you are/have:

  • 5+ years of experience in similar role
  • Strong programming skills (Python preferred)
  • Knowledge of database concepts, data modelling and SQL
  • Experience with serverless and cloud technologies (AWS) - Event Driven Microservices Architecture knowledge
  • Kafka:
    • Experience and in-depth knowledge of designing, building, and running functionalities surrounding Kafka.
    • Hands-on experience with Kafka ecosystem (Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, KSQL, etc.)
    • Experienced in maintaining and troubleshooting functionalities surrounding Kafka.
    • Extensive experience with message and stream processing on Kafka.
    • Experienced in setting up, configuring and maintaining Kafka brokers
  • Communicative, responsible, proactive
  • English (B2/C1)

Moreover, we appreciate skills in these areas:

  • Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL technology (Snowflake, PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, MongoDB etc)
  • Data Lakes and related technologies such as Athena, BigQuery or Dremio
  • Experience in data catalogue tools, graph database technologies
  • NLP in a production environment
  • Application API frameworks such as RESTful and GraphQL
  • DevOps concepts such as CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes
